This year, no fewer than 35 Two Oceans Marathon runners chose to add to their achievement by raising funds for Operation Smile. Together, they raised an incredible R125 000 towards much needed cleft surgery.
Over R14 000 of that was raised by Wanita Goodwin (pictured above), who completed her 9th Two Oceans Ultra this year. On 28 May she is flying to Johannesburg to experience her first Operation Smile surgical programme.
“I cannot wait to be part of this amazing programme, and see those beautiful smiles,” she said, as she thanked friends, family and colleagues for supporting her run. Beyond running, Wanita also leads a heartfelt knitting club, creating blankets to bring warmth and comfort to patients and their families.
Next year, Wanita plans to tackle her 10th Two Oceans Ultra and we wish her every success with this milestone run.
