Wear a smile. Share a smile. Give a smile.
World Smile Day is here to remind us that – no matter how bad life gets – there’s always something to smile about.
Sharing a joke with a colleague … seeing a silly meme or reel on socials … something cute your child or grandchild says … catching up with friends over coffee … watching a comedy show on TV … reliving a precious memory …
May you find plenty to smile about today. May you share a smile with someone who needs it. And perhaps think about giving a beautiful new smile to a child born with a cleft lip or palate.
Because, a smile should never be out of reach. Every child deserves access to the care they need to smile, eat, speak and thrive.
According to a new survey undertaken by Operation Smile South Africa, 54% of respondents were willing to spend money on things that make them happy – a coffee or favourite drink, hobbies, sports and gifts or treats for others.
Donating a few rands to help a child face the world with a confident smile is certainly worth spending something on. Because it will definitely make you happy. Your heart will be smiling all day!
Please share this message far and wide on your socials. Because, our survey also revealed that almost half the people interviewed knew very little about the care and treatment that children born with cleft conditions need. With your help, we can change that.
Thank you for caring enough to help. Let’s get the whole world smiling today!

Give a smile – get one back. Your kindness makes all the difference to a child who might otherwise not have access to safe, world-class surgery.
Please help us reach more children in need, by contributing towards the cost of providing comprehensive cleft care, completely free of charge.
