In the lead-up to World Smile Day on Friday 07 October, Smile 90.4FM aims to raise R275 000 in support of Operation Smile. Our goal is to add 50 NEW SMILES to the world.

Smile 90.4 FM is a bilingual (English and Afrikaans) adult contemporary radio station, broadcasting to the greater Cape Town Metropole and surrounding areas, including Paarl, Stellenbosch and Somerset West. We deliver on our promise of Better Music & More of It by playing familiar, bright, sing-along hits, where every song is your favourite. Our content speaks to our values of providing companionship, comfort, delight and moments of escapism!

Smile 90.4FM is trying to raise R275 000 to fund corrective surgeries for 50 people with cleft conditions.

Why smiles?

Approximately one in every 1000 babies in Africa is born with a cleft condition. Babies born with cleft may be unable to feed properly, and may suffer from malnutrition and thirst. One in 10 children born with a cleft will die before their first birthday. For these children, a relatively quick, simple operation results in a life-changing smile. We strive to ensure that every child with a cleft lip or palate has access to this level of surgical care. Cleft conditions can be repaired in roughly 45 minutes with a relatively inexpensive (R5 500) surgery.
