My Smile
by Pralene Mahabir
Today,
I am able to smile,
Able to speak,
My heart,
My truth,
Miles for Smiles,
Has given me a new life,
It’s opened a new window,
To the world,
I was born in,
I remember the days,
When I could not speak clearly,
My friends around me,
Sometimes,
Made fun of me,
I remember trying to hide,
Sometimes I stayed in my shell,
In my room,
In my home,
But today,
I smile,
I feel like I have wings to fly,
High above the clouds,
Visiting the colourful rainbow,
After the summer rains,
Today,
I know I can dream,
I know all I can be,
Is possible,
Is always possible,
Cos’ I know,
I am a child,
Of Operation Smile
